Who is responsible

BitFox (bitfox.online) is run by Roy Derks, based in Spain. He is the controller of your personal data. For questions about your data, access or deletion, email redactie@bitfox.online.

What data we process

When you sign up for the overview: your email address, the language of the page, the page you signed up from, whether you came through one of our links on another channel such as X, the time, the text with which you gave consent and the version of the terms you accepted.

With an account: your email address, a hashed form of your password and the data you enter yourself, such as your watchlist, notes, your progress in the course and your practice portfolio in the stock game. That data is only visible to you.

When you visit the website: we use no advertising cookies and no third party tracking. For our own statistics we count visits without cookies and without storing your IP address. We only keep the page, the referring site, the source code in the link (such as bron=x), the country, the device type and the duration of the visit, and whether you really read an article, saw the sign up block and signed up. All of this is linked to an anonymous ID that changes daily. A page may randomly show one of two texts on the sign up button, to learn which works better.

What for and on what basis

We use your email address to send you the overview and news from BitFox. The basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We use account data to make your account work, based on the agreement you enter into with us. We use anonymous statistics to improve the website, based on our legitimate interest.

Who processes the data

We work with processors: Supabase (database and login, servers in Frankfurt, Germany), Netlify (hosting and forms, United States) and Brevo (sending emails, France). We conclude data processing agreements with these parties. For transfers outside the EU we use the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission. We never sell your data.

How long we keep it

We keep sign up data as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe we delete your email address, except what we need to prove your unsubscription and your earlier consent. We delete account data immediately when you delete your account. We keep anonymous statistics for a maximum of 26 months.

Security

Connections are encrypted. Passwords are not stored in readable form. Administrators log in with two step verification and every change in the back office is logged. Access to data is limited to those who need it.

Your rights

You may access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, or object to processing. Send your request to redactie@bitfox.online. We reply within one month. You withdraw consent through the unsubscribe link or by email. If you disagree with us, you can complain to the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (Spain), where BitFox is based, or to the authority in your own country, such as the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens or the Belgian Data Protection Authority.

What we store on your device

BitFox does not use cookies for advertising or to track you. In your browser we only store what is needed for the site to work: your login session if you have an account, your choices such as the language or a closed notice, and, without an account, your progress in the first lesson. This is strictly necessary, so we do not ask for consent. You can always clear it in your browser settings.

Age

BitFox is not intended for people under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If we change this policy in substance, we raise the version number (now 2026-10-16) and let you know.
